Midtown Redevelopment Area Board Approves Practice Field

B-CU

Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) student-athletes are one step away from a new practice field.  On Tuesday, October 9th, The Midtown Redevelopment Area Board approved the site plan for the Larry R. Handfield Athletic Training Center Practice Field.

"A synthetic turf field with state-of-the-art strength and conditioning, as well as sports medicine and meeting facilities, provides the resources that we need to remain competitive and on target for championships," said B-CU Director of Athletics, Lynn Thompson.  "The addition of a practice field, on the site of the current Larry R. Handfield Athletic Training Center, will provide yet another step in the continuous development and investment in our university and its athletic programs."

The practice facility, a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field, will help Bethune-Cookman prepare for games back on campus. The Wildcats spent much of the 2012 slate at nearby Municipal Stadium, in addition to New Smyrna Beach.

The proposal will move to the City Commission for final approval.
