On August 25, 2012, at 11:17 am the National Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm WATCH for Coastal Volusia which includes the Bethune-Cookman University campus.  A Tropical Storm Watch means there is a chance a storm will form and pose a threat to a coastal area within 36 hours.  A campus alert will be sent out putting the B-CU community on notice of the NWS advisory.  The advisory is currently scheduled to expire on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 11:30 am.

An additional alert will be put out only if the Tropical Storm Watch is upgraded to a Tropical Storm WARNING (the storm is occurring or will likely occur, and will reach a specified coastal area within 24 hours) or if the Watch is extended.
