Inservice Programs
The Attendees of the 2011 Daytona Beach Writing Project will become the consultants who will lead the professional development for their peers during the year 2011-2012. At the college/university level and in the public schools, Attendees will be asked to share their experiences with their department, becoming a “mentor” for those in their particular discipline to encourage better writing in students. They will be encouraged to present their teacher demonstration program as well as share the ideas formulated from other Attendees in the Institute, and by sharing these “best practices,” writing instruction at all levels can be enhanced.
At Bethune- Cookman University, each participant will present a demonstration on best writing practices in the Faculty Development programs offered twice a month to enhance faculty improvement of teaching methods. The Bethune- Cookman Teacher Consultants will be available for contracted services to other educational institutions to provide workshops on writing instruction.
K-12 Attendees will share with their colleagues the ideas and practices for improvement of writing. Inservice programs will be contracted out to the district schools so that the Teacher-Consultants can provide funded training for teachers through workshops.
The Daytona Beach Teacher Consultants will conduct workshops at their own schools and also present at local and national education conferences to share expertise with other educators. Through the Daytona Beach NWP, the Attendees will be professional consultants contracted to present programs and run workshops for educational institutions in the area.
