Dean's Welcome

Dr. Alexis Brooks-Walter

Welcome to Bethune-Cookman University Honors College!

The Honors College is a collegial environment that cultivates the growth of diverse, multitalented, high achieving students.  The focus of the Honors College is to prepare the best and brightest students to be able to solve real-world complex issues that face today’s society.  Consequently, the Honors College offers interdisciplinary coursework, intensive seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, research and service-learning experiences in a qualitatively different curriculum.

The mission of the Honors College is to provide students with exceptional educational and personal growth opportunities within the context of an active community of students and faculty who share a dedication to academic distinction and personal scholarly achievement. The Honors College and its programs encompasses academic rigor which emphasize communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability think analytically across various disciplines.

The faculty of the Honors College are a group of individuals that encourage student engagement, academic integrity, and scholarly research.  They are committed to providing a learning environment that nurtures the head (intellect), the heart (transformative leadership), and the hand (service learning), three words that are present on the University’s seal.

The Honors College is open to all students in any discipline. It is an exciting, dynamic group of scholars that are striving for excellence in all aspects of their lives.    I invite you to explore the advantages of the BCU Honors College and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Alexis Brooks-Walter, Ph.D.
