Welcome to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (IE). The office serves to preserve the integrity and actualization of the strategic plan through continuous research, assessment and evaluation for institutional effectiveness in achieving the mission of Bethune-Cookman University.

The office provides reliable, systematic, and timely information to academic and administrative units in support of the University’s policy formation, planning, and decision-making.  The office assists in developing, organizing, maintaining, analyzing and reporting institutional data.  It is engaged in ongoing data collection, analysis and distribution resulting in official university statistics to satisfy both internal and external reporting needs; design and implementation of internal studies related to students, personnel, facilities, equipment, programs, services and fiscal resources/databases, via the Center for Information Technology, suitable for longitudinal studies and statistical analysis.  The office also provides assistance in establishing outcome measures for accountability and other related activities in support of planning, evaluation and decision-making.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness is an integral part of the planning and evaluation process.  On-going data collection, analysis and reporting of institutional facts make it plausible for Bethune-Cookman University to adequately judge program, sector and institutional effectiveness. The University’s mission statement is the foundation for institutional planning, long range and short range goal-setting and evaluation.  Institutional research employs a variety of assessment methods, via data collection and analysis, to demonstrate the use of results of the planning and evaluation process for the improvement of both educational programs and support activities, since the educational quality of the University determines how effectively the institution has accomplished its established goals.

Franklin Beckwith '59 Donates $60,000 to B-CU

Franklin Beckwith, who is blind, couldn’t see the expanse of the current campus. But, he said he wants to be a part of educating the next generation and contribute to the school’s growth. Thus, he proudly delivered a check for $60,000 to Bethune-Cookman University, and quietly asked that the funds be used to help current students pay for their education.
