Dr. Ronald R. Dowdy - Interim Chief Financial Officer
Due to the untimely death of Dr. E. Dean Montgomery, Dr. Ronald R. Dowdy comes to Bethune-Cookman University as the Interim Vice President/CFO/Chief Operations Officer. Dr. Dowdy worked closely with Dr. Montgomery in their roles as financial readers and reviewers for SACS and they held each other in high esteem. He comes to assist Bethune-Cookman University during this period of transition.
The University's new interim Chief Financial Officer possesses the Ed.D. Degree from Auburn University in Higher Education Finance and Administration. He also comes to the University with 20 years of experience in the United States Air Force as an instructor pilot, director of finance, personnel, facilities and the manager of countless major construction projects.
Dr. Dowdy joins the President's Cabinet with over twenty years of -prior experience as the Vice President of Finance and Administration at two colleges. As the finance member of SACS' reaffirmation, initial accreditation, and special visiting teams, he has made numerous visits to colleges and universities. Dr. Dowdy has also been a financial consultant to several institutions, helping them resolve various compliance problems related to satisfying SACS requirements and standards mandated for initial and reaccreditation.
Dr. Dowdy has conducted numerous workshops and training sessions about how institutions can successfully document SACS compliance involving administration, finances, and facilities. Dr. Dowdy's professional development includes attendance at numerous Federal Financial Aid training and workshop sessions as well as professional development through continuous participation in the National Association of College and University Business Officers NACUBO) and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO).
Dr. Dowdy has managed construction projects, bringing them in under budget and on time. In addition to having fiscal responsibilities, Dr. Dowdy has also been responsible for Strategic Planning, Personnel, Computer Information Systems, Auxiliary Enterprises, Facilities, Security, Maintenance, and Transportation.
